David Fincher Overtones Production
Well since we are able to write about anything for this first play, I guess I will write about something small that Jenny said in class that caught my attention. When she said that David Fincher would be a good director for a film adaptation of Overtones, I think that he would do an excellent job bringing it to life. From viewing a few of his films such as Fight Club and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, I feel like he could capture the somewhat dark, realistic tone of this play. Overtones has a kind of demented perspective on certain parts of women's personalities and I think that it would be interesting to see his own vision of this on the screen. I loved the play honestly, but since we talked about it so much in class, I didn't really want to repeat anything that was already said. And with me being a film major, this intrigued me once I heard it. When I was reading it, I was actually thinking about how it could be made into a short film, and how many different, innovative ways this could be done. Maybe it could be a project that I can work on down the line, or even something original that I make can be influenced from it, since it is such an interesting concept.

ReplyDeleteWeird. Somehow my previous comment was deleted...but I absolutely admire David Fincher and his films. He has always been a favorite director of mine. I concur with you that it would be really interesting to see this play produced into a film by him, and I would love to see all the ways it can be performed. He has this edgy and captivating signature style to his work and that would contrast well with the play’s whole aspect.
